Triple Release

This was a lot of work. Releasing three books at once (two of which were previously published under different titles) was an ambitious idea. Each book contains hours and hours of work and organization. Let’s do a breakdown.

The prequel: Georgia Goes Broke. 21,760 words, 108 pages in paperback and hardcover, both 5.5″ x 8.5″.

After I wrote Book 1 in the series, I wrote and edited this novella from May to July 2021. It took me about four days to design the original cover for the original title, Georgia’s Promise. Most of that time, I was trying to figure out the basics of Adobe Illustrator.

Book 1: Lessons of Broke Georgia. 83,600 words, 316 pages in paperback and hardcover, both 5.5″ x 8.5″.

Originally titled The Georgia Rules, I began the first draft in early 2019. Halfway through writing the book, I saw the plot disintegrating into chaos, so I had to re-do the outline. It took me two years to write as I was learning bit by bit about the craft. I finished writing it in early 2021. Then, I decided to turn it into a series. I held off publishing it until September 2021 because I wanted to write the novella first. I rebranded the series and retitled this book as Lessons for Broke Georgia.

Book 2: Broke Georgia Goes Multi-Level. 77,000 words, 316 pages in paperback and hardcover, both 5.5″ x 8.5″.

I wrote the draft in 3 weeks during November 2021 for NaNoWriMo. December was all book research and rebranding my series. I didn’t start the revision until the end of January 2022. I finished that in March. All of April was editing. May was all final edits and publishing prep for the three books. Also, I had returned to Canada in that time, and it was a busy time of transition after not being back in cold, rainy Vancouver after four years in beautiful, hot Costa Rica.

I’m very happy with how the books all turned out, and I hope readers enjoy reading them as much as I loved writing and publishing them. The next book in the series will be about Broke Georgia and crypto, but it’s going to involve a lot of research. As I do my research and formulate the plot for Book 3, I’ll be also outlining, plotting, and drafting a standalone novel, which I’ve decided to write before I write Book 3.

If you haven’t purchased your copy of any of these books, the eBook sale will be going on until the end of July. Happy reading!
